Talisker 8 Year Old Single Malt Special Release

Rich in maritime flavours, this experimental and adventurous Talisker presents itself. The special feature: For the first time, a Talisker bottling has been re-aged in casks previously filled with Caribbean pot-still rum.

Colour:
Amber yellow

Aroma:
Sweet and maritime, with hints of molasses and dry seaweed, plus a hint of smoke.

Palate:
Intense flavour; salty and slightly sweet above all, before the full Talisker pepperiness hits.

Aftertaste:
Long and dry, sweet and smoky with the typical Talisker chilli pepper.

WHISKY AMBASSADOR Notes

Bandages and sea spray, with vanilla-heavy custard tarts and lime peel. Smokiness builds, bringing barbecued meat and sweet peat. Underneath everything is a spicy mist of burning pine needles.

PALATE

Rich and thick on the tongue. Sweet bacon, chocolate, lime and black pepper are wrapped in dark break and dusted with salt. Seaspray reemerges, floating above everything.

FINISH

Mint and menthol with creamy touches that fade to leave salty buttered toast.

COMMENT

This was the whisky I was most looking forward to in the Special Releases 2018, and it didn't disappoint. Classic salt, pepper and smoke Talisker with a rich background.
